Google…Really?

Interesting to see Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt crying about possible NSA snooping. Mr. Schmidt opines as follows:

“It’s really outrageous that the NSA was looking between the Google data centers, if that’s true,” Schmidt said in an interview.

“The steps that the organization was willing to do without good judgment to pursue its mission and potentially violate people’s privacy, it’s not OK.”

Given Google’s disregard for its users privacy when it suites their profit goals makes it hard for the average Joe to ascribe too much credibility to Mr. Schmidt’s whining about Uncle Sam doing the same thing. Time was and may still be Google didn’t mind hacking around your browser’s privacy settings to further their profit goals. At least NSA is supposedly trying to protect us.

Don’t be fooled by any internet service providers gratuitous pledges to protect your privacy, they don’t because they can’t.

That said, surf on, just remember your big brothers are watching. Don’t do or say anything your would regret later. There are no secrets out there.
